FTE is a free (licensed under the GNU GPL) text editor for developers. It is really powerful, yet very easy and intuitive to use.
Ports that can be compiled from the current source tree include OS/2,
Win32 console, DOS, Linux console and an X port for many UNIX'es,
including Linux, AIX, Solaris and Cygwin. An incomplete UNIX terminal port
(using s-lang) is also available.

There are .exe only! You'll need a complete packeage from hobbes
(http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?key=fte) if you don't have FTE up
and running.

WarpIN and XWorkplace have both been updated to V0.9.14.
1. WarpIN V0.9.14 has been released.
WarpIN is intended to become the new universal OS/2
installer. It is becoming more and more popular among
OS/2 developers because of its flexibility and ease of
use. It has full system configuration (CONFIG.SYS,
WPS classes, WPS objects) and can fully undo all the
changes to your system again.
V0.9.14 has more fixes and introduces self-installing
executables support to finally solve the download
problems many people have been having.
2. XWorkplace V0.9.14 is out also.
XWorkplace is the most feature-rich freeware Workplace
Shell enhancer on the planet, and even better, it is
OpenSource. XWorkplace is the successor to my popular
XFolder utility and has become a Netlabs project.

V0.9.14 again fixes quite a number of bugs. In addition, some new features were added.
Note: To install XWorkplace V0.9.14, you also need WarpIN V0.9.14 or
higher, since XWorkplace now comes as a self-installing executable.

WarpIN and XWorkplace are Netlabs projects, released under the GNU General
Public Licence. The source code is available on the Netlabs CVS server.

DB2 7.2 is available for download
DB2 7.2 is available for download in the following versions:
- DB2 UDB Enterprise Edition V7.2 DBCS for OS/2
- DB2 for OS/2 Personal Edition SBCS V7.2
- DB2 UDB Enterprise Edition V7.2 Nordics for OS/2
- DB2 UDB Enterprise Edition V7.2 SBCS for OS/2
They are all about 350 Mbyte big and there is no mention of free CD
distribution. Last file date is 2001-04-11.

Wolfram Schmid (w.schmid@ws-it.de) updated DirDiff, a directory compare program for OS/2.
DirDiff compares all files in two sub-directorys or whole directory trees
and locates which files have been modified, which files have been created
and which files have been deleted. DirDiff is a useful tool primarily for
software developers but it can also used for some other file management
activityes. DirDiff is freeware.
New in this releas:
- Fixed a bug with the history list
- File dialog improved
Features of DirDiff:
- Compares files in 2 different directorys or directory trees - Shows the compare result in a global view
- Shows colored, which attribute was changed
- Spec of include- and exclude filters for file names and directorys
- Visibility of all filters can be toggeld on and off
- Spec of pathes and filter at the command prompt
- Deletion of files direct in the result list
- Different action for files of the result list. Eg. 'opening of PMdiff', 'call of the cmd line' or 'opening of the WPS folder'.
- User configurable action
- Stores all program settings, window sizes and positions
- Resizeable file dialog
- History list for path 1 and path 2

This is just a short note to let everyone know that the Warp Doctor Team IRC meetings have been changed to Sunday's at 2:00 PM EDT, (18:00 GMT) thanks to everyone who participated in our poll! This will go into effect next Sunday (September, 2nd) since we already had our meeting for this week.
Meetings take place in #warpdoctor on the WEBBnet IRC network. For more

The new day and time was selected by input from a survey of Warp Doctor
supporters. We hope that more people find this new day/time convenient
and can attend these meetings. We need everyone's input and assistance to
get this project up and running so that we may provide help and support to
the OS/2 community. Warp Doctor is a VOICE project and funded by the
VOICE membership dues. As with most of the VOICE resources, Warp Doctor
will be freely available to all OS/2 users.
The objective of Warp Doctor is to support the information, software, and
hardware needs of the OS/2 Community. Warp Doctor was conceived by Dr.
Dirk Terrell, the late Dan Casey and others, as a replacement for the old
Warp Pharmacy site. Warp Doctor will provide a support facility with the
goal of assisting the OS/2 Community in efforts to resolve problems and
provide guidance on system operation, tuning and selection. WarpDoctor
will assist with resolving both hardware and software issues. In additon,
WarpDoctor will assist with application installation and use.
