IBM went away, simple people live here

The Shareholders of IBM corporation and Microsoft made the decision to extract resources (money) from OS/2 in the end of 90-th.

Since year 2000, OS/2 users live alone. The billions of dollars which were on this market, are not available anymore. Simple users and investors burn own money here.

"One man, no man"

Building an Operating System - it's a huge project. it's like building a real City (build houses, dig flowers garden, etc). Thousands of people are going this in the city.

Conclusion: Standalone developer is unable to create something. Always join a group, interact with other developers. Moreover, interace with all other "characters" (managers, resellers, Active users, ..)

Unique OS/2 User Interface

OS/2 is diffrent from other systems thanks to unique User Interface.

Russian OS/2

eCo Software is making russian eComStation since 2001, all versions of ArcaOS since 2017.

LIP packages - is it easy?

LIP (Language Interface Pack) is used to switch language of OS/2.

Device drivers in OS/2

Major part of OS/2 drivers are universal. Ethernet drivers are full-featured, Video: VESA with acceleration, Audio - based on linux ALSA.

You can't stop time flow..

When UEFI and other barriers appeared, we said: it's not important what is changing in the computers. You can always install OS/2 to Used Core 2 Duo PC.

Time goes and we see that OS/2 must support new models of computers because old generations are not available. don't fit the requirements.

Voice control in OS/2

Voice control was integrated to OS/2 Warp 4 in 1996

ArcaOS 5.1.1 - DOS works again

DOS virtual machine works again (it was working on Core 2 Duo, and didn't for i5). Install ArcaOS in UEFI mode to use DOS VM.

Web-browser is the source of life

Currently we don't have good web-browser in OS/2.
